I have only covered ballet a few times before now and it is usually relegated to rehearsals. In the newspaper business we often run preview stories, as to give the readers a chance to see the upcoming productions, such as plays, gallery openings, musicals, in essence, the "arts." After photographing a rehearsal last week, I decided to cover the actual performance for a photo page and lucky for me, my boss agreed. I have realized I am drawn to the beauty in ballet and dance. It is extremely athletic, yet graceful. I think it is almost magical how the parts come together. And this, mind you, is coming from a guy who loves photographing a great boxing match or better yet a great football game. No, I will not check in my "man card."
