Last Friday I was sent to an RV park near Estes Park to help illustrate a story about rising fuel prices and travel. I found plenty of people setting up their gas-guzzling behemoths for a weekend of "camping." I would think that since it takes about $50 to fill up my truck's tank with the cheap unleaded gas, other people would be thinking twice about filling up their RV's bajillion gallon tank. Just think about how much it would cost to fill up for a quick weekend getaway. Sure Estes Park is close to the metro area, but c'mon, at 9-miles to the gallon it adds up, right? Either these weekend warriors have really good jobs or bigger credit cards than me.
So, as I tried to wrap my mind around the amounts of money being billowed out in the form of exhaust, I spoke to a man from Denver as his two young children ran around their campsite. He explained it to me like this: "Three dollars a gallon won't keep us away because the (family) memories are far more valuable." I must agree, memories with your children are valuable. Take these kids for example, they will probably never forget the ugly camera guy shooting their picture as their father backed the family Truckster into their coveted camping spot. I can just hear the story 2o years from now..."Dad, remember the time when that goofy guy took our picture...?" And maybe he'll say "Yeah, I spent $400 in gas that day."

Yes, the ugly, creepy camera guy who has horny ladies trying to get his digits. That's how I'll remember you 20 years from now.
